OUR FOCUS ON THE PROTECTION OF OUR INVESTORS' CAPITAL IS REFLECTED IN OUR FUNDAMENTAL VALUES, OUR OPERATIONAL PLATFORM, OUR BUSINESS PROCESSES AND OUR PEOPLE. PROVIDED THAT WE ARE PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAWS AND REGULATIONS IN A PROSPECTIVE CLIENT'S RELEVANT JURISDICTION WE MAY BE ABLE TO ADDRESS THE COMPLEX NEEDS OF OUR INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS FOR CUSTOMIZED OR TARGETED INVESTMENT SOLUTIONS AND THEIR PORTFOLIO OBJECTIVE OF UNCORRELATED, RISK-ADJUSTED AND CONSISTENT RETURNS.
Special Situations and Opportunities (Spec Ops) is an opportunistic investing platform seeking to capitalize on global investment opportunities that are time-sensitive, complex, or in dislocated markets where we believe risk and price are fundamentally mispriced. The Spec Opps team harnesses intellectual capital from across Swiss Finance's leading alternative asset franchise to invest across companies, industries and geographic realms. Our nimble constitution and flexible investment mandate allow us to pursue and dynamically manage certain deep value opportunities. Going forward Swiss Finance seeks to focus on less liquid opportunities because we believe they have potential for greater risk-adjusted, long-term return in the current climate.
Our investments span a wide range of geographic realms, industries and sectors around the world in a range of private companies, both established and start-up. Some situations are turnaround or restructuring opportunities and require deep knowledge of capital structures and expertise with local and international law. We take a constructive and cooperative approach with our investment targets, treating them as partners in need of capital and technologies. We uncover value by identifying great companies, or companies that can be great again, and enhancing their financial performance by providing long-term capital as well as management support to a management team that has vested interest in making success happen. Our approach is not unique but our capabilities and international platform are. We are able to help our portfolio companies grow core businesses, launch new initiatives, make strategic acquisitions that can transform their competitive landscape and acquire new technologies and systems to cut costs.
In some instances we provide only capital, but in others we provide a lot more. Prior to investing we conduct extensive due diligence to determine if we need to bring our special expertise of our Portfolio Ops Group to provide strategic guidance on a variety of operational improvements, including avoidance of competition through carving out of niche and market dominating products and services.
STRATEGIC EXIT PLATFORM
Strategic Partners Platform is our answer to problems of many investors in the secondary private equity market. Our goal is to provide institutional investors an opportunity to monetize and exit their illiquid investment holdings at a time they find appropriate or opportune. Provided that we are permitted under applicable law and regulation we may execute many types of transactions, from single fund transfers to complex portfolio exits, and work closely with our institutional partners to understand the unique circumstances of each situation and offer cost-effective alternatives that build long term relationships.
Investors value our ability to help them exit at the right time, and they are willing to seek our guidance and support as it relates to private fund commitments, co-investments and portfolio management of these holdings, some of which can be cumbersome to them.
Strategic Partners Plantform has dedicated secondary investment professionals located in financial centers, and leverages Swiss Finance's global presence. Our core group of senior professionals has worked together for over a decade. The team is supported by professionals in our entire franchise, including our expert legal, accounting and operations teams, dedicated to timely and cost-effective execution, monitoring and reporting of investment opportunities. We believe our innovative platform translates into a valuable solution for the dynamic secondary market because it seeks to provide the necessary capital and support in an expeditious manner.
Institutional investors who enter the private equity investment portfolios on day one face several risks such as those related to blind pools, "J Curve", concentration and so forth. We seek to mitigate many of these risks for our investors by acquiring suitable investments in secondary market that meet pre-defined conditions and requirements on industry concentration, sector diversification, cash flow durations and vintage years. We can also create specificity and eliminate blind pool issues by focusing on specific fund sponsors, geographies and growth profiles. This is achieved by utilizing Swiss Finance's broad network of global relationships and focusing on a detailed, bottom-up analysis of the portfolio companies. Our proprietary databases and networks allow us to be nimble and opportunistic in this area as well.
