An Open Letter From A Managing Director:

"Dear Swiss Finance:

Given the rigor of your program, I am interested in learning if you have any thoughts on how our firm could benefit from looking at some of your students as potential hires. One of our current initiatives is to focus on new and innovative ways of identifying qualified and motivated students.

Best wishes,

Managing Director, Morgan Stanley

Swiss Finance, School of Business for MBAs

Swiss Finance selectively assembles a strong class of individuals capable of excelling in finance and business. Because of Swiss Finance, School of Business’s curriculum, teaching methods, reputation and rigor, its programs are known to offer an invaluable experience to MBAs and other graduate students interested in a career in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, hedge funds, sales and trading. Swiss Finance, School of Business students body is very carefully selected to be both highly talented and diverse. The median age is in the early to mid twenties, and our program participants include several MBAs and finance professionals each year, besides mature and high-achieving college students.

The following information should further help you determine if our programs may be suitable for you to apply. Our programs offer education and training on certain topics (such as proprietary trading, financial modeling and interviewer psychology) not available at almost any undergraduate or graduate business schools, and in many ways our programs are designed to be similar to real life investment banking / entrepreneurial experiences. The experience is invaluable to anyone who wishes to excel and occupy a leadership role in any industry. Our programs do not focus much on basic accounting, operations or information systems; however a limited amount of accounting that relates directly to investment banking and trading is taught. Our key focus is on valuation, capital markets, M&A, hedge funds, private equity, strategy consulting and entrepreneurship. We typically have many finance majors as well as finance MBAs in our programs.

Program Rigor and Excellence in Applied Business and Finance

Unlike most undergraduate or MBA finance courses, our courses are taught by seasoned finance professionals from globally renowned firms such as JP Morgan, Citigroup and Barclays, and by a select few professors from top international MBA programs who have prior extensive experience in the investment banking industry. Some of our faculty members have trained professionals at bulge bracket investment banks. The lectures are full of examples from their own experiences and offer a deep insight into the reality of daily work in investment banking, corporate finance, sales and trading.

Our programs are very rigorous. Classes are held for several hours each business day. Additionally, in the evenings, students study for several hours, both independently and in groups. Textbook readings and case studies are selected and assigned for their richness and practical relevance to the topic, and for making the discussion as approachable as possible for the audience. Formal presentations similar to those delivered by investment bankers before their clients during "beauty contests,” as well as negotiations that relate to the price and structure of a deal, form an integral part of a highly dynamic learning experience.

Non-Finance MBAs: We Value Diversity

We welcome applications from non-finance MBAs, just as we do from liberal arts college students with limited or no background in finance who possess strong academic, extracurricular and professioanl track record. These types of students are required to do some homework before arriving at the School, which is communicated a few weeks prior to their arrival. Finally, Wall Street mock interviews and resume review sessions are held throughout the program, in the form of group exercises. These are conducted by finance professionals with prior recruitment experience in investment banking industry. Our students find these group based career and interview sessions invaluable.
